Basketball Recap: Stratton Takes a Loss

Stratton suffered their closest loss since December 16, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Burlington Cougars by a score of 42-39. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Leading Burlington to victory were Bethany Cure and Kiyarra Williams. Cure dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Williams dropped a double-double with 11 points and 20 boards. Williams is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Charlotte Goodnow was another key player, putting up six points.

Stratton's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-3. As for Burlington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.

Stratton has already played their next contest, a 47-20 defeat against Merino on the 14th. As for Burlington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-19 victory against Arickaree on the 14th.
