The Mater Academy Charter Lions will square off against the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mater Academy Charter has six straight wins, Pembroke Pines Charter has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mater Academy Charter's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave last Saturday, when they got past North Miami's usually-dominant defense. A big part of Mater Academy Charter's win came down to the chemistry between Dontavious Kinchens and his top target Jamal Robinson Jr. Kinchens threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns while Robinson Jr picked up 135 receiving yards and three TDs. Another player making a difference was Kimbriq Minnis, who rushed for 80 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Mater Academy Charter didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jarmarr Marshall Jr., Victor Latimore, and Leondre Strawder picked up one apiece. Latimore is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last three games he's played. Mater Academy Charter got some further help from Edwardo Thompson: he forced one fumble and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Pembroke Pines Charter lost to Nova on the road by a 21-7 margin on Friday.
Mater Academy Charter's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Saturday's game might be decided in the trenches. Mater Academy Charter has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 153 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Pembroke Pines Charter, though, as they've been averaging only 91.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
