Basketball Recap: Hannibal Takes a Loss

Hannibal was the 68-47 winner over Van-Far when they last played one another back in January of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Hannibal Pirates lost to the Van-Far Indians on the road by a 63-46 margin on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly 17 points.

It was another big night for Pacey Reading, who went 9 of 19 en route to 24 points and six rebounds for Van-Far. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaven Gaston, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points.

Hannibal is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10. As for Van-Far, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Hannibal will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kirksville at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for Van-Far, they are taking a road trip to face off against Palmyra at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palmyra has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 204 points over their last three contests.
