Softball Recap: Abington Heights Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

While Abington Heights put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for West Scranton. The Comets blew past the Invaders 17-0. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Invaders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Avary Brister was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Wilmot, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Abington Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Abington Heights' victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for West Scranton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Looking ahead, Abington Heights will head out to square off against Wallenpaupack Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Comets 2.7, the Buckhorns 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for West Scranton, they will welcome Valley View at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Invaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season.
