Softball Game Preview: Sierra Vista Dons vs. Garey Vikings

The Sierra Vista Dons will head out to square off against the Garey Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Sierra Vista and Duarte have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Dons came up short against the Falcons, falling 9-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Dons were not able to get on the board.

Sierra Vista saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aleena Mora, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Garey entered their tilt with Baldwin Park on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 13-2 win. The game was the first time the Vikings have beaten the Braves on their field since March 19, 2021.

Garey's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Sierra Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Everything went Sierra Vista's way against Garey in their previous matchup back in April, as Sierra Vista made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
