Football Game Preview: Granville/Whitehall Golden Horde vs. Watervliet/Heatly

The Granville/Whitehall Golden Horde will face off against Watervliet/Heatly on Friday. Granville/Whitehall will be strutting in after a victory while Watervliet/Heatly will be coming in after a defeat.

Granville/Whitehall took a 38-point loss the last time they faced off against Hoosick Falls/Tamarac, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Horde skirted past Hoosick Falls/Tamarac 22-20. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Horde have posted since October 11, 2024.

It was another big night for Chad Monty, who rushed for 166 yards and three TDs. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 112 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Watervliet/Heatly fell victim to Schuylerville and their airtight defense last Friday. They were outmatched by the Horses and fell 56-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which Watervliet/Heatly was not able to get on the board.

Granville/Whitehall is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.5 points over those games. As for Watervliet/Heatly, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Granville/Whitehall against Watervliet/Heatly when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Horde since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
