Basketball Recap: Neligh-Oakdale Comes Up Short

Neligh-Oakdale fought the good fight in their overtime contest against West Holt on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They had to suffer through a 72-26 loss at the hands of the West Holt Huskies. The Warriors were up 26-4 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Jaycee Gadeken and Rylee Tillema certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Gadeken posted eight points and six steals, while Tillema earned four points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Tillema a new career-high in rebounds.

Even though they lost, Neligh-Oakdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Neligh-Oakdale's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for West Holt, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Neligh-Oakdale will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bloomfield at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for West Holt, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-23 defeat against O'Neill on the 30th.
