League recap: Placer tops Colfax to extend winning streak

Placer extended the longest winning streak in Pioneer Valley this week by beating Colfax, 24-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Hillmen.

The Falcons moved up to 421 from 484 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Colfax was able to make move up by falling to Placer 24-7.

Tony Martello's team's dynamic duo of Michael Wilson and Christopher Harshman proved tough for Joey Montoya's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilson threw for 253 yards and one touchdown and Harshman had 84 yards receiving. Kyle Bryant helped Colfax's passing attack out by catching four balls for 52 yards.

Isaac Brahce was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 180 yards as the Hillmen fell to the Hillmen. Teammate Michael Robinson added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.

Brad Botsford made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bear River topped Lincoln. The 5-foot-11 junior racked up two sacks.

Colfax's Wilson and Bryant have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Pioneer Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Wilson has thrown for 2525 yards this season, while Bryant has 60 catches for 1021 yards. James Hubbard from the Fighting Zebras leads the league in rushing with 1040 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Placer takes on second place Center. Last week, Placer defeated the Falcons, while Center beat Foothill.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Hillmen take on the Cougars. Placer's offense has scored 365 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Center has allowed only 130 on the year.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Hillmen take on Digol J'Beily's team. Placer has allowed 147 points this season, while the Cougars have given up 130. The Hillmen allowed 7 points last week as they bested Colfax.

Center led the league in scoring this week after putting up 68 points on the Mustangs.
