Baseball Game Preview: Water Canyon Wildcats vs. Millard Eagles

Water Canyon hasn't had much luck against Millard recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Water Canyon has given up an average of 18.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Water Canyon is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Millard, falling 16-2.

For Millard's part, Hunter Stott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Stott posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Millard let Dawson Jensen and Stedson Stott run wild. Jensen scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Stott scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave Jensen a new career-high. Jackson Powell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Millard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Millard's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Water Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
