Basketball Recap: Cape Hatteras Hurricanes vs. Hobgood Charter Raiders
The Cape Hatteras Hurricanes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 84-50 loss at the hands of Hobgood Charter. Cape Hatteras was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Cape Hatteras still got an impressive performance from Griffin Couch, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 54% of Cape Hatteras' points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was David Amortegui, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hobgood Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Khrie Rascoe, who scored 21 points along with six assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rascoe has scored all season. Zyhe Higgs was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Cape Hatteras dropped their record down to 4-12 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Hobgood Charter, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Cape Hatteras will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. As for Hobgood Charter, they will head out on the road to challenge the Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
