Baseball Recap: Bishop Verot Snags 19th Win in Last 20 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Bishop Verot rose to the challenge on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Calvary Christian Warriors 7-6. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 5-4 win on Tuesday.

Tyler Reeder tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joey Lawson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Sheffield, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Bishop Verot has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Calvary Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 29-5.

Bishop Verot didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 loss against Miami Springs on the 19th. Calvary Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
