Basketball Recap: Meredith Wilkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Franklinton over Southern Nash

Franklinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 44-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Nash Firebirds. The Red Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Firebirds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Franklinton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Meredith Wilkins, who posted 17 points. Rihanna Hunt was another key player, putting up nine points.

Southern Nash's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hailey Knight, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. That's the most points Knight has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Terri Richardson, who put up ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Franklinton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Southern Nash, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Bunn the next time they take the court. Franklinton will head out to face Bunn at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, while Southern Nash will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
