Preview: Eastside Eagles vs. Laurens Raiders
Eastside is 4-0 against Laurens since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Eastside Eagles will be playing at home against the Laurens Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Eastside has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. The contest between Eastside and Riverside wasn't particularly close, with Eastside falling 63-46. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eastside in their matchups with Riverside: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their defeat, Eastside saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Miracle Cheeks, who scored 16 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Cheeks hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Laila Harvey, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Laurens' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to Greer on the road by a decisive 54-35 margin.
Eastside's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Laurens, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-11.
Everything came up roses for Eastside against Laurens in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 69-17 victory. Does Eastside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Laurens turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
