Recap: Central Dragons vs. Penn Cambria Panthers
The Central Dragons put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 35-28 victory over Penn Cambria. That's another feather in the cap for Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli Muthler out in front who threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Hunter Smith, who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Penn Cambria still got an impressive performance from Gavin Harrold, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 63 yards and a touchdown on only five passes. Thomas Plunkett was another key contributor, rushing for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Central's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.5 points per game. As for Penn Cambria, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Central will play host again and welcome Clearfield, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Penn Cambria does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
