Texas A&M-bound Grant Gunnell makes it look easy in lopsided win.

If Grant Gunnell hadn't already proved himself, Friday's performance against Chavez certainly cemented things.

The 6-foot-6, 212-pound quarterback from St. Pius X (Houston) completed 24-of-29 passes for 503 yards and 10 touchdowns in a 69-14 victory. The 10 touchdown passes tied a Texas state record.

St. Pius (3-0) led 35-0 after the first quarter and 49-0 at halftime.

Gunnell, a Texas A&M commit ranked the No. 30 junior recruit in the country by 247Sports (No. 2 Pro-Style quarterback), has now completed 96-of-131 passes in three games for 1,576 yards and 23 touchdowns. He hasn't thrown an interception.

Those numbers would be impressive season stats.

Gunnell has some detractors because St. Pius is a small (650 students) private school. In Texas, public schools rule. College recruiters don't think it's a problem, however, as he has 32 offers, including ones from Alabama, Florida State, Michigan Nebraska and UCLA.

He has 7,996 career passing yards and 104 career passing touchdowns.
