Volleyball Recap: Loogootee Takes a Loss

If Loogootee was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of North Knox on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions lost 3-0 to the Shoals Jug Rox on Friday. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jug Rox earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

While Loogootee ultimately came up short, they really made Shoals work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-13, 25-23.

When it comes to explaining why Loogootee lost, don't look at Jocelynn Sims. Despite the final result, she had 23 digs and two assists. Sims has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played.

Loogootee's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-9. As for Shoals, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.

Coming up, Loogootee will challenge Southridge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are on a three-game streak of home losses, and the Raiders a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck. As for Shoals, they will square off against Northeast Dubois at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
