The Irvine Vaqueros will square off against the Woodbridge Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Irvine is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
Irvine is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand St. Bernard an 8-0 shutout. The Vaqueros not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15, 2024 (when they won 16-2).

Drake Brito tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Tamayo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nico Macalino, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Woodbridge won against Portola two weeks ago with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Warriors walked away with a 4-1 victory over Valley Christian. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Caleb Camacho was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
Woodbridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Christian only posted a batting average of .125.
Irvine's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-12. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodbridge, their record now sits at 20-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Irvine has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Woodbridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Irvine beat Woodbridge 6-1 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vaqueros since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
