Recap: Ben Lomond Scots vs. Gunnison Valley Bulldogs
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Ben Lomond Scots proved on Saturday. They walked away with a 53-40 win over Gunnison Valley. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ben Lomond.
Ben Lomond got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonathan Alcarez out in front who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Alcarez's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Malakai Mack, who scored 11 points.
Despite the loss, Gunnison Valley had strong showings from Tyson Tucker, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds, and jet hill, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Tucker scored a full 37.5% of Gunnison Valley's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tyce Hill was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Ben Lomond's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Gunnison Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ben Lomond will take on North Sanpete at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Allowing an average of 58.5 points per game, North Sanpete has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest. As for Gunnison Valley, they will be playing at home against Rockwell at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Rockwell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
