Basketball Recap: Winnfield Tigers vs. Mansfield Wolverines
If the Winnfield Tigers were feeling good off their 68-45 takedown of the Many Tigers last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Winnfield fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 55-53. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Winnfield came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 202nd).
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Decavian Duncan, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Ven Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Winnfield's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8. As for Mansfield, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-14.
Winnfield will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. As for Mansfield, they will head out on the road to challenge the Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
