Baseball Game Preview: Oxford Academy Patriots vs. Sonora Raiders

The Oxford Academy Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Sonora Raiders at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Oxford Academy has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 24.

On Thursday, Oxford Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Segerstrom and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by just one run.

Meanwhile, Sonora owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance last Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Spanish Springs. While the Raiders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Sonora saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Crowder, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

The win made it two in a row for Sonora and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Oxford Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
