Basketball Recap: Daryus Tasby's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mayde Creek over Cinco Ranch

Mayde Creek lost against Cinco Ranch back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mayde Creek Rams fell 70-61 to the Cinco Ranch Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Cougars are ranked 43rd).

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daryus Tasby, who went 8 for 11 en route to 20 points. That's the most points Tasby has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Edwin Cleveland, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

Mayde Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Cinco Ranch, they pushed their record up to 25-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Mayde Creek will welcome Seven Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seven Lakes will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Mayde Creek surely won't give up without a fight. Cinco Ranch has already played their next matchup (against Morton Ranch), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
