Archbishop Mitty has gone a perfect 4-0 against Branham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Archbishop Mitty will head out on the road to take on Branham at 4:00 p.m. Archbishop Mitty's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Branham's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Archbishop Mitty is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Carlmont by a score of 13-8 on March 11th. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Monarchs considering their two-run performance the match before.
Kyleigh Mace tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Archbishop Mitty let Rylie Hicks and Olivia Anderson run wild. Hicks went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Anderson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-6. That's the most hits Anderson has posted since back in April of 2024. Gianna Catalano also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Branham posted their closest win since April 12, 2024 on Thursday. They skirted past Westmont 5-3. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Taylor Bugliarello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydney Short, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Jaslene Soliz was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Archbishop Mitty pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Branham, their record is now 6-7.
Archbishop Mitty took their win against Branham when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Archbishop Mitty since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
