Baseball Recap: Navajo Prep Has No Trouble Against Northwest

Navajo Prep won against Laguna Acoma last Friday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Everything went the Eagles' way against the Northwest Falcons as they made off with a 12-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won seven in a row.

Kayden Nez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Nez was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nehemiah Simpson, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Navajo Prep's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jashyro Bileen, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Navajo Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Navajo Prep's record is now 4-13. As for Northwest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Navajo Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against Northwest: the pair will be back at it again later today.
