Softball Recap: Pine Grove Wins Going Away Against Falkner

Pine Grove's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Falkner Eagles 11-1. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Memory Mauney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Rylee Hall was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Khloe Braddock, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Pine Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pine Grove's record now sits at 6-7. As for Falkner, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Pine Grove Panthers face off against Byers Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pine Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Falkner, they are taking a road trip to square off against Jumpertown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Falkner has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
