Baseball Recap: Woodrow Wilson Finds Home Field Redemption Against Margaretta

There's no place like home for Woodrow Wilson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Margaretta Polar Bears 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Flying Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tyler Wilhite was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Wilhite wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Gallaher, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Maddex Sims was another, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Woodrow Wilson's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Margaretta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Woodrow Wilson has already played their next matchup, an 8-3 defeat against Nicholas County on the 17th. Hopefully Margaretta paid attention to the Flying Eagles' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Flying Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
