Baseball Recap: Coronado Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Bishop Gorman

Coronado faced Bishop Gorman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Gaels. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Coco Tomonari looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Coronado: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-18 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hudson Jones was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Coronado's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 9-19 when he doesn't). Drew Steffen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
