Softball Preview: Maynard Tigers vs. Hopedale Blue Raiders

The Maynard Tigers are on the road again on Tuesday to play the Hopedale Blue Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Maynard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, Maynard beat Clinton 4-1.

Jillian Macfarlane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in ten consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Calleigh Currier was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Elizabeth Schmidt was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hopedale didn't have quite enough to beat Blackstone Valley RVT on Monday and fell 3-1. Hopedale has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
