Volleyball Recap: Mexico Bulldogs vs. Marshall Owls
Mexico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Marshall Owls. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Owls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Mexico took Marshall into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 16-25, 18-25, 15-8.
Claire Isgrig paced Mexico's offense, picking up 12 kills. Isgrig got some help from Julia Goerne and her 16 assists. Isgrig was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.
Mexico's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mexico will square off against Father Tolton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Marshall, they will take on Hannibal at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
