Football Recap: Camp Verde Takes a Tough Playoff Loss + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Camp Verde can now relate to. They came up short against the Tanque Verde Hawks on Friday, falling 39-15. The Cowboys were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.

Camp Verde's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Walsworth, who threw for 160 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 63 yards on only six carries. Walsworth's longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another rusher making a difference was Justin Smith, who gained 123 total yards and a touchdown.

Rocco Haggard was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 14 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 153 yards and one touchdown on only 12 passes. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending one pass.

Camp Verde's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Tanque Verde, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Camp Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tanque Verde, they will venture away from home to square off against Veritas Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games.
