Football Recap: Orrick Comes Up Short

Orrick had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it four. They were dealt a 47-14 loss at the hands of the St. Paul Lutheran Saints. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 51-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Although Orrick took the loss, they still got scores from Trent Windsor and Xavior Gaskins.

As for St. Paul Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won four matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.

St. Paul Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Easton Sheets led the charge by throwing for 89 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 31 yards. Sheets' passing game has become a key predictor of the Saints' success: the team is 4-2 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Another receiver making a difference was Tate Kreisel, who picked up 88 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Coming up, Orrick will be playing in front of their home fans against Northland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Paul Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
