Basketball Recap: Sandalwood Takes a Loss

Sandalwood was the 72-69 winner over Raines when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Sandalwood Saints took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raines Vikings.

Despite the loss, Sandalwood still got an impressive performance from Antonio Hodges, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney B. Mathis Jr, who had ten points.

Raines' win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jesus Rice, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Rice's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Timothy Cole, who earned 13 points.

Sandalwood's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Raines, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season.

Sandalwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-48 loss against Fleming Island on the 4th. As for Raines, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-44 victory against FAMU DRS on the 4th.
