Baseball Recap: Caledonia Extends Winning Streak to Four

Caledonia posted their closest win since April 15, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Sparkman Senators. The win was familiar territory for the Cavaliers, who have now won four games in a row.

Caledonia got a great performance from Garrett Holloman as he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Holloman has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Caledonia's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Shelnut, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Shelnut also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

Caledonia's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Sparkman, they moved to 8-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Caledonia will welcome South Pontotoc at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Caledonia is facing South Pontotoc at the right time seeing as South Pontotoc is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Sparkman, they will face off against Lexington at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
