Baseball Recap: Hickory Grove Christian Takes a Loss

Hickory Grove Christian was the 4-1 winner over Charlotte Latin when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hickory Grove Christian Lions took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Charlotte Latin Hawks on Friday. The loss was the Lions' first of the season.

Hickory Grove Christian got a good showing from Tyler Wright, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

At the plate, Hickory Grove Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Dowdy, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another was Ben Green, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hickory Grove Christian fell to 2-1. As for Charlotte Latin, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Hickory Grove Christian has already played their next matchup (against Gaston Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Charlotte Latin, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 17-3 victory against Central Academy on the 3rd.
