Preview: Northfield Norsemen vs. Madison-Grant Argylls

The Northfield Norsemen will head out on the road to face off against the Madison-Grant Argylls at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northfield is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.

Last Friday, Northfield lost to North Miami at home by a decisive 57-41 margin. Northfield has struggled against North Miami recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The losing side was boosted by Hannah Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds.

Madison-Grant suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Frankton, falling 82-34. Madison-Grant was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-17.

Madison-Grant's defeat came about despite a quality game from Maddy Moore, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Moore is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played.

Northfield's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Madison-Grant, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Northfield have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 26.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Northfield and Madison-Grant were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but Northfield came up empty-handed after a 52-51 defeat. Thankfully for Northfield, Daya Greene (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
