Football Game Preview: Gatesville Hornets vs. Connally Cadets

The Gatesville Hornets will challenge the Connally Cadets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Gatesville's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Connally has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Gatesville is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since October 11, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Robinson, falling 35-14. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.

Cy Burns put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 90 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Connally lost 28-6 to La Vega on Friday. The matchup marked the Cadets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Connally didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of KD Linville and Idrees Lee.

Connally's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Gatesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Gatesville won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in November of 2024, slipping by Connally 35-34. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Cadets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
