Preview: Oberlin The Phoenix vs. Firelands Falcons
The Oberlin The Phoenix will head out on the road to face off against the Firelands Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oberlin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Firelands is ranked 131st).
Oberlin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 52-40 to Wellington.
Despite their loss, Oberlin saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Korrie Freeman, who scored 9 points, was perhaps the best of all. Carmello Williams was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Meanwhile, Firelands sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 win over Clearview on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Firelands.
Midview's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Oberlin's loss dropped theirs to 0-2.
Oberlin didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Firelands in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 46-41 victory. Does Oberlin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Firelands turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
