Softball Game Preview: Corning-Painted Post Hawks vs. Windsor Central Black Knights

The Corning-Painted Post Hawks will take on the Windsor Central Black Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Corning-Painted Post has three straight wins, Windsor Central has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Corning-Painted Post is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New York's top teams: Edison, who was ranked 12th at the time (Corning-Painted Post was ranked second). The Hawks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Spartans a 5-0 shutout on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Windsor Central's offense. They lost 12-0 to Maine-Endwell on Friday.

Windsor Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Flagg, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Corning-Painted Post's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Windsor Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
