After a string of three wins, Briar Woods's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 2-0 to Independence. While losing is never fun, Briar Woods can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Independence are ranked seventh).

Briar Woods' loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1-1 and their overall record down to 7-3-2. As for Independence, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 11-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Briar Woods will take on Patriot at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Independence, they will face off against Potomac Falls at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Independence's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Potomac Falls has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
