Football Game Preview: Cathedral Phantoms vs. La Habra Highlanders + Official Tickets

Two dominant signal callers in Jaden Jefferson and DJ Mitchell are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cathedral Phantoms will head out on the road to square off against the La Habra Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Cathedral is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-21 victory over Western.

Cathedral's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Glenn Carrera III led the charge by picking up 163 receiving yards. Carrera III is becoming a predictor of the Phantoms' success: when he posts at least 80 receiving yards the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Quentin Hale also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, La Habra entered their tilt with El Modena on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Vanguards 41-7. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Highlanders had established a 20-point advantage.

Cathedral better focus on containing Kevika Mata'Utia- Martinez and Bryce Vasquez as the pair were huge in La Habra's win. Mata'Utia- Martinez rushed for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, while Vasquez picked up 101 receiving yards and one score. Those 162 rushing yards gave Mata'Utia- Martinez a new career-high.

La Habra was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Modena only rushed for 87.

La Habra didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Vasquez.

Cathedral now has a winning record of 6-5. As for La Habra, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
