Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Dragons vs. Cherokee Bluff Bears

The Jefferson Dragons will head out to face off against the Cherokee Bluff Bears at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Jefferson is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering East Hall just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 70-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.

Meanwhile, Cherokee Bluff was able to grind out a solid win over Oconee County on Tuesday, taking the game 64-51. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Warriors are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cherokee Bluff has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. As for Jefferson, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6.

Jefferson barely slipped by Cherokee Bluff in their previous matchup back in January, winning 86-85. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jefferson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
