Baseball Recap: Kokomo Wins Going Away Against Muncie Central

Kokomo had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Muncie Central on Tuesday. The Wildkats put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Wildkats not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 14, 2024 (when they won 16-6).

Kokomo got a great performance from Isaac Flamino as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Flamino has become a key player for the Wildkats: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 1-3 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ben Carey, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five RBI and one run. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Brody Bagwell was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Kokomo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Kokomo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. As for Muncie Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Kokomo will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bearcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
