On the hitting side, Covenant Day let Ethan Andujar and Brode Dixon run wild. Andujar went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Dixon went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Dixon a new career-high. James Cosper was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Covenant Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Mecklenburg only posted a batting average of .000.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Country Day School came into Wednesday's game having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past Lincoln Charter 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buccaneers have posted since May 8, 2024.
Dominic Ranalli looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Alex Stiefel and Darius Morales did most of the damage at the plate: Stiefel went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Morales got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Pierce Miller, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Covenant Day's record now sits at 16-4. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their record is now 5-15.
Everything went Covenant Day's way against Charlotte Country Day School in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Covenant Day made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
