Basketball Recap: Northfield Takes a Loss

Northfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Manchester Squires and fell 76-46. The Norsemen were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.

Several Norsemen players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Parker Oswalt, who posted nine points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Holmes, who had nine points and five rebounds.

Gavin Betten was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards for Manchester. Betten's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Tallon Torpy, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 17 points and five steals.

Northfield now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Manchester, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northfield will challenge Eastern at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Manchester, they will take on Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
