Basketball Recap: Houston Hilltoppers vs. Kosciusko Whippets
The Houston Hilltoppers won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. Their rough 71-50 defeat to Kosciusko might stick with them for a while. Houston has not had much luck with the Whippets recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Leading Kosciusko to victory were Jaybre Pierce and Andrew Mancell. Pierce scored nine points along with seven steals, while Mancell dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Greer, who scored seven points.
Houston has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Kosciusko, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Houston will head out on the road to face off against the at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kosciusko, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (Caledonia is ranked 59th, while the Whippets are ranked 46th).
