Basketball Recap: Riverton Takes a Loss

Riverton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 46-39 to the Star Valley Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 37-27 back in January.

Star Valley was led to victory by Emily Dana and Ambrey Nelson. Dana dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards, while Nelson posted nine points along with six rebounds and five steals. Nelson is becoming a predictor of Star Valley's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 6-9 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kambree Johnson, who put up seven points and eight boards.

Riverton's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Star Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.

Riverton will challenge Evanston at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Star Valley, they will take on Jackson Hole at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
