Recap: Donahue Catholic Shamrocks vs. Moore Haven Terriers
The Donahue Catholic Shamrocks won the last time they faced the Moore Haven Terriers, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Donahue Catholic walked away with a 47-35 win over Moore Haven. Given Donahue Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Moore Haven is ranked 518th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Donahue Catholic found their leader in underclassman Veronica Halisky, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Halisky is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Scholastica Niewald, who scored 12 points along with three blocks.
Donahue Catholic pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Moore Haven, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Donahue Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Everglades City at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Everglades City comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Moore Haven, they will head out on the road to face off against Glades Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
