Baseball Game Preview: Elyria Catholic Panthers vs. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals

For the second straight game, Elyria Catholic will face off against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy. The Panthers will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Royals at 5:00 p.m.

Elyria Catholic fell victim to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 10-0 to the Royals. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's part, not much got past Kyle Shaw, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Elyria Catholic off the board. Shaw has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jacob Lancy was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nik Wirsching, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Elyria Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
