After a string of three wins, Chico's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Newbury Park by a score of 2-1.

Chico actually scored more points across those three sets (55-50), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 9-25, 16-14.

Chico's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Newbury Park, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Chico didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Patrick Henry on the 13th. As for Newbury Park, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Eastlake on the 13th.
