Baseball Game Preview: Monroe County Falcons vs. Hart County Raiders

The Monroe County Falcons will head out to challenge the Hart County Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Monroe County's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.

On Friday, Monroe County earned a 10-5 victory over Clinton County. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Hart County made easy work of John Hardin on Friday and carried off a 16-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Zak Wilson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Austin Martin was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Colton Collins was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Monroe County's record now sits at 14-10. As for Hart County, their record is now 15-18-1.

Monroe County took their win against Hart County when the teams last played on Monday by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
