Basketball Recap: Trinity Christian Lions vs. Fayette County Tigers
Trinity Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-49 defeat to the Fayette County Tigers. The Lions were probably out for revenge after losing 61-48 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Taj Jawwaad went supernova for Fayette County, going 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Jawwaad a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaren Blankenship, who posted 14 points and five rebounds.
Trinity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Fayette County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian will face off against LaGrange at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. LaGrange will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Trinity Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fayette County, they will challenge Troup County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Troup County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Fayette County likes a good challenge.
